An all-round weapon

WTP's Dan Foley built up a fresh version of his signature Cadence frame recently and before he got her all scratched up he snagged some photos of his new setup. If a low BB, tall standover, steep headtube, and beefy double gussets is your kinda bag then this might just be for you.

When it came to designing your signature frame, what were the main things you were really specific about?

I wanted to make sure it felt right on any kind of riding terrain. I love riding everything, so I wanted my frame to match that. It was also super important to me that it looked clean.

What are some of your favourite features on the frame?

I'd have to say the lower 11.5" bottom bracket and the higher 9" standover height. In my opinion, a low bottom bracket makes a bike feel so consistent and solid, so that's something I'm really psyched on. I also hate the look of frames with low standovers. Higher standovers just have a classic look that I love.

It's fair to say that you are a true all-round rider, riding skateparks, street and trails on a regular basis. Was that a big thing to consider when designing your own frame?

Absolutely. The main thing I was aiming for when choosing the geometry was that the frame would ride equally well on anything. I want anyone who rides this frame to be able to show up to any kind of spot, whether it be a huge cement bowl or a curb pad, and feel like they have the right tool for the job.

What part of your bike really makes the difference to you?

Aside from the frame, I'd have to say handlebars. They have to be adjusted to just the right angle. It's kinda weird since it doesn't really affect my riding, but if they aren't just right it bothers me until I fix them.

Do you do any modifications to your bike to get it running sweet?

I hold my bars pretty close to the bends so I cut them down to 27.5". I also cut the steer tube of my fork down so I don't have to run any spacers. I love the look of a slammed stem.

Can you explain a bit about the name? Why Cadence?

Cadence is basically another word for rhythm. Between being a BMXer, video editor, and drummer, I feel like rhythm plays a big part in the things I love to do. I also just really like the word.

The Army Green looks amazing, are you picky about colours?

Thanks! I am pretty picky in the sense that I usually get tired of colors quickly. I love having a bike that isn't too bright or flashy.

You usually like to keep your bikes setup in a very similar way, is there anything different you’ve tried recently?

Not really. Just recently moved up to 9" bars, which feel sweet. Aside from that, not much has changed in a while.

Describe your bike in three words?

Simple, functional, versatile.
